Question

1. What is the responsibility of the student in each situation? The staff?
2. What are some possible options for the student in each situation? What would you do?
3. What would you change in each situation? 5. Dilemma: Several students are assigned to a multi-specialty clinic for their clinical. One student knows that his sister goes to this clinic and decides to view her electronic medical record (EMR). Details: The student is aware that a fellow student has observed him retrieving his sister's medical record and begins reviewing it. The two students are good friends and the "observing" student is conflicted about what to do in this situation.

Explanation / Answer

When the student want to know her sister record, she has to get permission to view. Generally, all the health records or details of staff are confidential. They have to maintain privacy to protect the records.

As she already viewing the data, when her supervisor comes so suddenly , atleast she should apolozie in doing this.

If i am in that situation, as a staff well before attending to the clinic, basics rules and regulations are to be taught. So that the students come to know what to do and how to act. Also as a healthcare peole they have to maintain ethics and should know that those are legal documents.
