Managing across generations and overseeing staffs made up of people of different ages present challenges. Baby boomers still are in the majority among U.S. employees, but increasingly they're supervising, being supervised by or working closely with Generation X'ers, and the even-younger Millennials (Gen Y) employees. Motivating these employees, with their different mindsets, requires managers to relinquish a one-style-fits-all approach. Identify your generation. Do you think managers understand what inspires members of your generation? What is most important to you when it comes to getting a job done? What tactics work best for you?

Managers are people's person they are born and trained to hire pool of talent and manage their daily operations. Main concern is to keep their productivity in place , ensuring motivation and high energy at work place to retain them. Managing a different generation of employees could be a challenge if they bring a completely new mindset to the work enviornment. A friendly nature is necessary than tightly monitoring work enviornment , it creates negativity and reduces transparency of thoughts amongst employees. Gen X and Y are fast pace people with excessive zeal to learn and grow. It is important to keep the work culture active and competitive , formulating new ways to keep enthusiasm on floor, exciting contest to keep spirit hights , continous session to hear their ideas and implementing some . Managers need to identify with their personas and treat accordingly ,training needs to be tailored according to their reciprocation to ensure they are not losing interest. Sharing thoughts , motivating , building team activities etc are some good tactics to manage them.
