Marquez completed and transfferred out 45,000 unitsduring March. How many units were in beginning work inprocess? Please show me how to do it.Explanation / Answer
This is finding equivalent units under FIFO costing Physical flow units Beg Inventory ------ +started 45,800 total(unknown) - This is a format to be used in finding physical flow of units. Beg Inventory - Started & completed E.Inventory (given) 6,000 Total (unknown) Now next step is you have to find the unknow and missed numbers. The other value given is units transferred out is 45,000 units. Total units - ending inventory = units transferred out. Therefore, Total units = units transferred out + ending inventory. = 45,000 + 6,000 = 51,000 Now , you know the total units. In this problem, they have givenother information like conversion costs %and direct materialspercentage. You don't need those infos for this problem because theonly thing you are going to find is Beg. inventory. Thoseinformations will be taken into consideration only if you are askedto find the equivalent units. Ok, Let us fill in the values tofigure out the beg.inventory in the above shown format. B.inv 5,200 Started 45,800 Total 51,000 Beg.Inv is 51,000-45,800 B.Inv 5,200 started& completed39,800 How to find Started and completed ( total - b.inv - e.inv) E.Inv 6,000 ( 51,000 - 5,200 - 6,000) Total 51,000 Hope this helps !
