(1) Applying conservation of momentum:

10*5 = m*8 + 10*2

=> m*8 = 30

=> m = 30/8 = 3.75 Kg

Hence the mass of the pin is 3.75 Kg.

(2) Let the common speed of both the cars is v.

Now,

1000 * 0 + 900 * 13.4 = (1000+900) * v

=> v = 900*13.4/1900 = 6.35 m/s

(3) Initially, astronaut and balls are standstill.

Now, applying conservation of momentum:

[(30 + (1.70-0.145)]*v + 0.145*7 = 0

=> [31.555]*v = -0.145*7

=> v = -0.0322 m/s = -3.22 cm/s

The negative sign in above shows that the direction of the velocity of astronaut shall be in the opposite direction that of the ball i.e., in the east direction.
