Question

O Q is dominant over P, and the eye color of PQ individuals is blue. O Q is dominant over P, and the eye color of PQ individuals is yellow O P is dominant over Q, and the eye color of PQ individuals is blue. O P and Q are codominant, and the eye color of PO individuals is green Q4.7. A large sunflower population is established in a field. The flowers mate randomly, and all individuals are equally likely to survive and reproduce. In this population, 60% of the alleles of a gene for petal color are dominant and 40% of the alleles are recessive. Given this information, after many generations, which of the following options would be most likely? The allele frequencies will be 100% dominant and 0% recessive. Q. The allele frequencies will be 80% dominant and 20% recessive. The allele frequencies will be 60% dominant and 40% recessive. There is no way to predict what the allele frequencies will be 048. A lizard population has two alleles for horn length. Long horns help protect the lizavd trom predation by birds. Homozygotes with allele / have long horns, while es with allele 2 have short horns. Given this information, which of the lewing es ukely true about the

Explanation / Answer

Ans. The allele frequencies will be 80% dominant and 20% recessive

This can be explained by taking an example of the monohybrid cross.

When 2 parents were taken in the MONOHYBRID CROSS i.e. when one character was taken at a time, in the F1 generation only one character appeared as per MENDEL''S findings. When the selfing of this parent was done, to obtain the F2 generation, 75% individuals were with the dominant trait and 25% individuals were with the recessive trait. But as we go further with the F3, F4...generations, the number of dominant individuals will always be more in comparison to the recessive individuals. Thus, 80% dominant and 20% recessive seems to be the right answer.
