In microbiology, Granada Medium (Gr agar) is selective culture medium to isolate and identify beta-hemolytic Group B Streptococcus species (S. agalactiae). Positive colonies (S. agalactiae, wild type) give specific red pigment due to accumulation of polyenic pigment. However, negative species (other species) give white colour colony. In contrast, Todd Hewitt (TH) media Broth is being used to identify Group A streptococci. Columbia blood agar (BI) isolation and growth of a variety of fastidious microorganisms.
abx1 negatively interact with histidine kinase CovS. CovS predominantly regulate the activity of CovR (which is under control of Skt1). CoVS is required for the transcriptional activation of Cyl-operon.
CYL gene are major regulator of pigment formation. Additionally, CovR and ABX1 are also ket transcriptional regulator of pigment formation because they control the expression of CYL genea or CYL-operon.
