Allele frequency is relative frequency of an allele at a locus on chromosome in a population.

Genotype is the type of allele present in organism that expresses itself as phenotype.

Example

Allele frequency of an allele T can be 60% in population.

Genotype can be expressed as TT or Tt for tall phenotype.

In a smaller population the change in allele frequency is more dramatic. It works through natural selection and genetic drift. Any changes in allele frequency affect a smaller population as small population means lesser genetic diversity. This low diversity can lead to lesser chances of natural selection in drastic condition hence affecting population number badly.
