A performance appraisal is a process that is directed at recognizing the employee performance through monetary and non-monetary means. The monetary recognition of employees include salary increments, incentives, bonus etc. The non-monetary appraisal includes promotions, transfers, recognitions etc.

1. A performance appraisal form would be selected based on the type of performance appraisal system that is to be adopted by the company. There are various types of performance appraisal methods, like 360 appraisal and HR appraisal, Self Appraisal form etc.

3. When a performance appraisal system is being introduced for the first time, it has to be communciated to all employees without any bias. This has to be done by communicating to the employees directly. A short meeting has to be called for based on the total strength of the employees, If the employee strength is more then they can be split based on departments and communicated respectively. The information should also be sent to individual mail accounts of the employees.

4. The managers will already be evaluating the performance of their departments and juniors in a separate methodology. By bringing in a common performance appraisal system, the managers should be trained in rating employees, They should be trained so that they dont have any bias while rating the employees, The reporting should be srystal clear and they should have a clarity while the information is presented to the HR department for further processing.
