Explanation / Answer

I took the footprint calculator quiz and based on my footprint I found out that it would require five planets like earth to support my lifestyle. According to my footprint calculator the two major contributors to my overall footprint are my food and my mobility i.e. travel. My carbon footprint i.e. carbon dioxide emission per year is 14.3 tonnes per year. The results were really astonishing to me and at the same time I felt really disappointed withme. I felt like a culprit of nature so I decided to make some changes in my lifestyle and recalculated my footprints with my changed lifestyle. I made the changes in my largest breakdown groups i.e. Food and Mobility. I decided to go for a balanced diet of veggies and meat instead of all meat and to use mostly locally grown food stuff. In mobility, I decided to increase my use of public transport and also opt for car pooling whenever it is possible. With these changes I was able to bring down my planet number to two. Although it’s still not ideal but I can definitely see the way forward from here. I'm now inspired to make changes in my lifestyle for the sake of sustainability - the health, welfare, and economics of future generations.

Thanks!
