8. Measure the distance of the proteins (in cn) from the sangin eatin Study Questions 1. What is the molecular basis for the differences in the elecrophoeetic emeobilitues of the four proteins analyzed in this exercise? Relase. your ?nswerv.te. isoclectric points of these proteins that are given in Table I1. 2. Explain how your results would have been affected if the electuophoreic separation was carried out at pH 10.5 3. Explain how your results would have been affected if the separation was carried out at pH 6.0. 19Explanation / Answer
Answer 1.
Isoelectic point is that pH at which a protein have not net positive or negetive charge. Different proteins posses different electric behaviour at a pH due to their isoelectic pH difference. A protein have a net negetive cahrge always above a pH more than isoelectic point and net positive charge always if pH is lower than isoelctric pH. Hence different proteins show different behavior at a pH in electrophoresis.
