Retirement Income funded by Social security benefits = $ 24000
Retirement Income funded by Employer pension funds = $ 12000
Annual Retirement Income to be funded through savings by the couple(PMT) = 44,800-(24000+12000) = $ 8,800
Expected return on assets post retirement = 7%
Inflation adjusted rate of return = (1+7%)/(1+3%) -1 = 3.88%
So, Retirement Corpus needed = PV(3.88%, 40, 8800) = $ 177,330.55
Number of periods till retirement, nper2 = 30
Rate of interest till retirement = 8%
Inflation adjusted rate of return = (1+8%)/(1+3% ) -1 = 4.85%
