Three careers in finance that I will be interested in applying are:

1. Entry level assistant controller – As an entry level assistant controller I will be involved in different aspects of accounting like processing of invoices, reconciliation of accounts, and preparing budgets. I am interested to pursue this career as it will give me exposure to multiple facets of the organization and will help me pursue a long term career in accounting, audit, system implementations etc.

The qualification that I have to apply for this role is a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Strayer University. In terms of my long-term career I see myself gaining expertise and competence in the field and develop management and leadership skills to become a professional controller.

2. Investment banking analyst – As an investment banking analyst I will be required to create financial models, valuation models, do pitches, do extensive industry and company research and help the experienced professionals in the organization as they advise clients in matters relating to IPO, M&A’s etc. I am interested to pursue this career as I have a genuine passion for the capital market - equity as well as debt. I would like to leverage my education and passion and combine them to make a successful career for myself.

The qualification that I have to apply for this role is a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Strayer University. Later in my career I will have to acquire a master’s degree (preferably MBA) as well so as to be able to climb up the corporate ladder in this field. In terms of my long-term career I see myself becoming an equity specialist of a particular sector and publishing my own equity research reports.

3. Financial analyst – As a financial analyst I will be required to do financial data driven analysis, do spreadsheet modeling, use MIS for financial as well as strategic decision making and doing capital budgeting analysis. I am interested to pursue this career as the long term potential for an analyst is huge and I can even become a treasury specialist.

The qualification that I have to apply for this role is a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Strayer University. I will have to, later in my career, augment this with a certification or a master’s degree in finance. In terms of my long-term career I see myself becoming a finance manager and then eventually becoming the CFO of a company.
