Question
If it is said NA is positive for all E.Coli samples ,what does it mean ? I did pcr for E.coli and non E.coli samples and some contain genes that make these samples resistant to NA while other do not what does it mean please explain it for me ? Why should we do DNA sequencing for all full resistant samples for NA?If it is said NA is positive for all E.Coli samples ,what does it mean ? Explanation / Answer
The term Na is positive for E.Coli means that a few of the samples have evolved to have a higher sodium tolerance. This type of genetically modified E.Coli is commonly used for Industrial Bioprocesses with high ph due to its Na+ resistance.
The samples with Na resistance may contain genes(for example like an NA+ transporter), which confers Na tolerance , and these genes were amplified by the PCR because it has primers specific to those resistance conferring genes
DNA sequence should be done to asceratin what kind of mutaions have occured and toexamine these alleles to figure out how these changes confer Na+ resistance
