Question
multivariable calculus.
I'm not sure if my explaination is clear for my answer so could you guys see if it makes sense and feels ok?
the question asks me to sketch a graph and give a short description of the following equation: y = -2
now i know that it will create a xz-plane that is parallel to the x axis and will pass through the point (0,-2,0).
if i were to give a short description to this equation,
would saying" this equation makes xz-plane and it crosses the points (0,-2,0) while it is parallel to x axis" sound as an okey description? If not, how would you describe this equation?
Explanation / Answer
If the question is in a 2D plane the equation makes a straight line parallel to X axis and passing through (0,-2) and if the question is to plot the graph in a 3D plane then y=-2 makes a plane parallel to X axis plane and perpendicular to Z plane and passes through (0,-2,0).
