Question

Someone please help me with this one! Over time, overgrazing can drastically alter the surrounding landscape and its associated ecosystem services. Which of the following will occur as an area becomes overgrazed? Check all that apply. Increased opportunities for invasive species to establish and take over this area Increased soil erosion due to decreased ability of soil to absorb and To halt the long-term negative effects of overgrazing, conservation biologists are urging land managers to take action in semiarid areas. Which of the following actions would not be recommended by these conservation biologists? O Restore overgrazed areas by planting trees and grasses that can help anchor topsoil. O Move grazing animals every few days to a new location. O To provide water for animals, use natural riparian zones instead of water tanks and troughs.

Explanation / Answer

Overgrazing causes the land to become barren and when it rans, the top soil gets carried away causing rich minerals to be lost . Thus it causes soil erosion and it will be difficult to make the land cultivable again. Hence over grazing must be prevented.

Inorder ot prevent this overgrazing we need to plant trees and change the grazing area regularly so that they are given time to regrow. This helps us prevent soil erosion and at the same time feed the animals. But providing water will never be encourages becaus eit might cause some other problem to the natural resourse or the health of the animal.Hence the answer is option 3.
