Question

Someone please help me with this Stats problem plz!!! Thank you!

A website has hit data broken out by region of customer (row) and the local time that customer was on the site (column) Calculate the following Probabilites: A) P(NE) - Probability that a customer is from the Northeast B) P(NW, given Afternoon) Probability a custome is from Northwest, given visit site in afternoon C) P(Morning, given SW) - Probability a customer visits site in Morning, given from Southwest D) P(Night) - Probability customer visits at Night E) P(SE or Evening) - Probability a customer is from Southeast or visits site in Evening

Explanation / Answer

Looking for the values directly from the table we solve for the expressions as follows:

(a)

P(NE) = 2500/7000 = 0.357

(b)

P(NW, given afternoon) = 390/2050 = 0.190

(c)

P(morning, given SW) = 420/1900 = 0.221

(d)

P(Night) = 1220/7000 = 0.174

(e)

P(SE or Evening) = { N(SE) + N(Evening) - N(SE and Evening) } / N(Total) = (1600+2250-530)/7000 = 0.474
