Question
NEED ASAP!!!!
Video 1
Watch this youtube video produced by the American Museum of Natural History:
Human Population Growth since 100,000 BC. You will need to expand it, and pause it or review it to answer the questions. Note:
· The yellow line along the bottom shows the year
· Each dot represents 1 million people
· Total population number is at the top
· The red line controls the video:

Video 2
Next, watch this video, produced by an organization called Population Education:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khFjdmp9sZk
This video presents the same data as the first video. However, the way this video presents the data is quite different.
1. What are some of the key differences between these two videos? List at least three differences.
2. Speculate on the reasons why these videos are different. What can you say about the motivations of the two producers in presenting this population data?
Video 3
As you saw in the first video above, demographers (scientists who study population growth and project it into the future) expect that human population will eventually level off. Watch this video and answer question 9.

3. Why do many demographers expect that human population will level off?
4. What factors lead to a higher birth rate in developing countries – that is, why is it advantageous to have more children?
5. What factors lead to a lower birth rate in industrialized countries – that is, why do women and families choose to have fewer children in industrial and post-industrial societies?
Explanation / Answer
1. What are some of the key differences between these two videos? List at least three differences.
Ans: a) The first video was started with a negative approach while the second video was started as a positive approach.
b) The representation & evolution trend shown by first video is much more impressive as compared to second video.
c) First video predicted the population will be maximum till 2050 and afterwards it will start leveling down. It also inspired us by showing some harsh realities & choices which we must opt to reduce population whereas the second video the author himself narrated the impacts of growing population.
2. Speculate on the reasons why these videos are different. What can you say about the motivations of the two producers in presenting this population data?
Ans: Two videos are different as the approach of both the videos are different first video made us like scary by showing the facts & figures of increasing poputaion whereas the second video told that a lot of space & resources are still left on the earth as per the increasing population. In my opinion first video is better to elaborate the impcts of increasing population to common people.
3. Why do many demographers expect that human population will level off?
Ans: The average poputation will level off because the fertility rates will fall in future.
4. What factors lead to a higher birth rate in developing countries – that is, why is it advantageous to have more children?
Ans. Because of poor living standards most of the children died which motivates the parents to have more babies in developing countries.
5. What factors lead to a lower birth rate in industrialized countries – that is, why do women and families choose to have fewer children in industrial and post-industrial societies?
Ans. Due to better living conditions in industrialized countries the death rate became low so the parents opted for less babies which lead to a lower birth rate.
