Question
26. This is a cross section of the Earth showing two plate boundaries. Where is the youngest crust? a. A b. B cross section above, where are the plates moving towards each other? a. A only b. B only c. A and B is formed 28. When an ocean plate and a continental plate converge, a a. rift b. trench c. transform fault 29. Subduction (when a plate gets pus a. divergent b. convergent c. transform d. every plate boundary hed down) is associated with what type of plate boundary? 30. Mid-ocean ridges are associated with what type of plate boundary? a. divergent b. convergent c. transform d. a and b e. all of these 31. At a convergent boundary, you will not see a. volcanoes b. mid-ocean ridges c. subduction trenches 32. Two things that can be found at a divergent boundary are a. a deep ocean trench and subduction b. islands and a huge mountain range c. earthquake faults and lava 33. At what type(s) of plate boundary does magma erupt? a. Divergent b. Convergent c. Transform d. a and b e. all of the above 34. At what type(s) of plate boundary do earthquakes occur? a. Divergent b. Convergent c. Transform d. a and b e. all of the aboveExplanation / Answer
26. In figure A the plates moves apart and there’s a formation of mid oceanic taking place in case A which means that magma is coming up from the asthenosphere to form new crust, therefore the youngest crust is present at “A” and therefore “a” is correct answer.
27. In cross section B we are seeing that oceanic plate is subducting under the continental plate and hence there’s is a formation of a trench, this is only possible in convergent plate boundary and hence “b” is correct answer.
28. As mentioned in above question when an oceanic plate converges towards an continental plate then due to its high density the oceanic crust subduction under the light continental crust and with this formation of trench take place. Therefore “b” is correct answer.
29. Mentioned in 27 questions the subduction zone is only possible in continental plate that too with an oceanic and a convergent plate and therefore “b” is correct answer.
