Question
An isosceles triangle has sides measuring 10 inches, 7 inches, and 7 inches. What are the measures of its angles? (Round to the nearest tenth) A 14-foot ladder is leaned against the side of the house. If the ladder make, a 6. degree angle with the ground, how high up does the ladder reach? (Round to the nearest tenth) The angle of elevation to the top of a flagpole from a point on the ground 18 meters from the base of the flagpole is 43 degree. Find the height of the flagpole. (Round to the nearest tenth)Explanation / Answer
1)
Sides of Isosceles triangle -
10 , 7 , 7
h = sqrt(7^2 - (10/2)^2 )
h = 4.9 inches
Calculating Angle,
sin() = 4.9/7
= sin^-1(4.9/7)
1 = 44.4 o
As two sides are equal in Isosceles triangle, Therefore second angle, 2 = 44.4o
Sum of all angles of a triangle = 180o
1 + 2 + 3 = 180
3 = 180 - 44.4 - 44.4
3 = 91.2o
Angles of triangle are -
44.4o , 44.4o , 91.2o
