Question

Question 7 (10 points) Find the indicated probability. Give your answer as a simplified fraction. The manager of a used car lot took inventory of the automobiles on his lot and constructed the following table based on the age of his car and its make (foreign or domestic). A car was randomly selected from the lot. Given that the car selected was a foreign car, what is the probability that it was older than 2 years? Age of Car (in years) Make 0-23-5 6-10 vr 10 Total 100 100 38 gn Domestic 44 20 10 26 49 Total 82 31 50 19 59 19 50 31 59

Explanation / Answer

Ans:

We have to find:

P(older than 2 year/foreign car)=P(older than 2 year and foreign)/P(foreign)

Now,

P(older than 2 year and foreign car)=(27+12+23)/200=62/200

P(foreign singer)=100/200

So,

P(older than 2 year/foreign car)=(62/200)/(100/200)=62/100=31/50

Option a) is correct(31/50)
