Question
The dataset NBAPlayers2015 contains information on many variables for players in the NBA (National Basketball Association) during the 2014-15 season. The dataset includes information for all players who averaged more than 24 minutes per game ( 182) and 25 variables, including Age, Points (number of points for the season per game), FTPct (free throw shooting percentage), Rebounds (number of rebounds for the season), and Steals (number of steals for the season). A correlation matrix for these five variables is shown. A correlation matrix allows us to see lots of correlations at once, between many pairs of variables. For any pair of variables (indicated by the row and the column), we are given two values: the correlation as the top number and the p-value for a two-tail test of the correlation right beneath it Correlations: Age, Points, FTPct, Rebounds, Steals Age Points FTPct Rebounds Points-0.019 0.800 0.147 0.288 0.047 0.000 FTPct Rebounds -0.028 0.332 -0.408 0.712 0.000 0.000 Steals -0.071 0.557 0.008 0.096 0.021 0.000 0.918 0.198 Cell Contents: Pearson correlation P-Value Click here for the dataset associated with this question.Explanation / Answer
(a) steal and points
this pair has highest positive correlation=0.557, p-value=0.000
(b)FTPct and Rebounds
this pair has highest negative correlation=-0.408, p-value=0.000
(c) 4 pair,
there are 4-pair, whose p-value is more than alpha=0.05. it means not convincing evidence of linear association
