Question

For this weeks discussion you will be asked to weight of slovenian teenagers. Considering the Young,People Survey data set we have a Height Weight and Healthy eating column. Obviously, if we want to predict one of the teenagers weights we would want to know their height. This leads to the simple regression model of interpret the results of a multiple regression model for the where W is the weight and H is the height. However, we might be able to get a more accurate model if we know the answer they gave to the question of how much they value healthy eating. They rated this from 1-5 with 1 being they value it very low and 5 being very high. Call there answer to this healthy eating question E. Then we have a model of the form where E is a categorical variable. Running this model in R gives the following output:

Explanation / Answer

a)

Coefficients:

p-value of height coefficient is less than 0.05. So only height coefficient of height is significant. Others are not significant.

Coefficient of Height is 1.064. For every one unit change in height, weight will increase by 1.064 units.

b)

Multiple R square = 0.5435. So the strength of the model is moderate.

c)

So 54.35% of the variance in weight is explained by the variance in height and healthy eating.
