Also, the media continued to present global warming as a debate, despite the fact that the National Academy of Sciences firmly concluded in 1979, when it reviewed a Jason study on climate change, that global warming would occur from fossil fuel burning. Why did the media fail?

The failure of media to handle this concept of global warming and fossil fuels burning is because of the techniques like greenwashing which includes advertisment technique implemented by various organisations which is used to convert the perception towards any organisation, product or entity by doing various deceptive advertisment to show that it is more beneficial for the environment than it actually is. For example various television shows the eco-friendliness and environment sustainability of various everyday product just to increase the value of any product while it hardly have any positive effect on the environment and thus companies spend a part of their budget in showing they are green instead of actually implement various steps to actually make it green. This is reason why media is still in dilemma about the relationship of global warming and fossil fuels burning while scientists firmly believe on the basis of various facts and figures that global warming is caused by burning of fossil fuels.
