Question
I'm having a problem with solving questions 4 and 5.
MacBoofk CWID Math2412 Spring 201s NAME CORE OBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT TEAM(COAT) assessment PROBLEM SITUATION: Determine if particle A and particle B collide if particle A moves according to the parametrically defined plane curve on the specified time interval: 2 2 B moves according to the parametrically defined plane curve on the same specified time and particle interval: x, (t) _ cos(rt) + t,0 (t)-t- 1) (Analysis) Write at least two complete sentences describing the problem and your approach to 2 determine if the particles collide, be sure to state what would have to be true for the particles to collide in the context of the problem 2) (Inquiry) If the paths of the particles do cross or touch does this imply the particles collide? Explain your reasoning in complete sentences and then mathematically determine if the particles paths cross or touch.Explanation / Answer
4) As we have seen in above steps that teh x coordinates of particles are equal at infinite number of times for the given time interval but the y coordinate equals only when t=5 and so from above discussion, we get that the particle collides only when t= 5 . Otherwise their path may cross each other but the particles will never be at same position except when t=5
5) As time goes by ,we can see that path of A behaves like a straight line whereas the particle B moves in uniform motion like a cosine function and it keeps going away from particle A. The particle collides at (4,5) and after that they start drifting away from each other as they never intersect after that
