Question
The U.S. Dairy Industry wants to estimate the mean yearly milk reveals the mean yearly consumption to be 84 gallons with a standard deviation of 26 gallons n. A sample of 26 people (a-1) What is the value of the population mean? Population mean Click to select) (a-2) What is the best estimate of this value? mean (c) For a 95 percent confidence interval, what is the value of t? (Round your answer to 3 decimal places.) (d) Develop the 95 percent confidence interval for the population mean, (Round your answers to 3 decimal places.) and al for the (e) Would it be reasonable to conclude that the population mean is 62 gallons?Explanation / Answer
Ans:
a)Population mean will be approximately equal to sample mean i.e. 84
b)Best estimate of population mean=sample mean=84
c)df=26-1=25
t value for 95% CI and df=25 is 2.060
d)95% CI of population mean
=84+/-2.060*(26/sqrt(26))
=84+/-10.502
=(73.498, 94.502)
e)As,confidence interval does not include 62,so we can not conclude that population mean is 62.
