Question

2- In the definition of an asymptotically stable equilibrium point, we required that the equilibrium point also be stable. This requirement is not vacuous. Give an example of a phase portrait ( a sketch is sufficient) that has an equilibrium point toward which all nearby solution curves ( eventually) tend, but that is not stable.

These 2 problems are from Ch. 8 in the text book " Advance Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems and an Introduction to Chaos" I can not find these examples required in the book. Thanks

Explanation / Answer

Your best guess would be trying to google it. A lot of the people on this site might not be able to give you the complete accurate answer for such a problem that might need a lot of time to do.
