Your textbook includes some events of note, but there have been many more throughout the Save course of history. What happened before during and after the eruption? Was the eruption a surprise? Why or why not? What was the VEI? How did the geologic setting affect the VEl? What type of volcano was responsible? What causes the most damage or deaths (lahars, ash, landslides, pyroclastic flows) during and after the eruption? Why? What was the eruption history of that area? What would you have done as a policy maker to save lives and or property before the eruption? In your response posts, please look for similarities and differences between the eruption you chose, and the others picked by your peers. Do you agree with chExplanation / Answer
The significant volcanic eruption is of Novarupta in 1912.
The eruption of Novarupta is one the chain of volcanoes on the Peninsula of Alaska which is the part of Pacific ring fire which is considered as the largest Volcanic blast of the 20th century the powerful eruption sent 3 cubic miles of magma and ash in the air which covered an area of 3000 sqaure miles. After the eruption there was rhylolite ash flow tuff for 2 days continously which had a great impact on wildlife and on global climatic change and within 3 days of volcanic eruption 14 earthquakes occurred with magnitude of 6 and above while before the eruption the climate was cordial and normal but this volcanic eruption changed everything. Yes, it was surprise because it occured at a sudden which caused a huge impact on climate with rhylolite ash flow and 14 earthquakes. The Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) is a relative measure of the explosiveness of volcanic eruptions. Novarupta. Type: Plinian pyroclastic vent with plug dome
