the name indicates forward converter that means it will allow current in one direction only

when load is RLE load that is controlling a motor, sometimes because of overhauling charateristics the motor will run above rated speed

because of that the motor is able to deliver the power to source

in order to prevent this the diode D1 is used

D1 allows flow of current from DC source to load

but blocks current from load to source

thats the reason why we are using a diode D1
