Question
If the allowable shear stress for each of the 10 mm diameter steel pins at A, B, and C is t_allow= 90 MPa, and the allowable normal stress for the 13 mm diameter rod is sigma_allow= 150 MPa, determine the largest intensity w of the uniform distributed load that can be suspended from the beam.This is the same question as in Hibbeler book (8 e, Problem 1.94) but here it is in SI unit. I tried exactly the same way as it was done for questin 1.94 and got 12.91 kN/m. But, this answer is wrong. Can you please help me with this question.
P.S.: In problem P1.94, 4ft will be replaced by 1.2 m, 3 ft will be replaced by 0.9 m and 1 ft will be replaced by 0.3 m.
