Question
Must show your work!!!!!
The road has a speed limit of 75 mph. Find the radius of the curve R so that traffic can safely travel a curve, bank angle of 5 degrees. Static of coefficient of friction between the road and the tires is .2, consider the vehicle to be a particle. (must show all FBD and kinematic diagrams)
Explanation / Answer
banking angle tan theta = coeffiecent of frictiion = V^2/Rg
1mhp = 0.4470 m/s
so 75 mph = 75 *0.4470 = 33.525 m/s
so R = V^2/(g * 0.2)
R = 33.525^2/( 9.8 * 0.2)
R = 573 m
