Question
As we have seen, the immune system is a marvel. Still, people get sick with infectious disease that cannot be cured. The AIDS virus mutates quickly, so scientists feel that a vaccine is nearly impossible. In addition, indiscriminate uses of antibiotics has lead to many drug-resistant strains of organisms. Lastly, some physicians may not recommend vaccinations against certain diseases. What are your thoughts? How do we control the spread of AIDS? Are you one of those individuals that demand an antibiotic for a cold or other viral infection?Explanation / Answer
Yes its true regarding AIDS,its vaccination is nearly impossible because rhe virus HIV changes it's antigenic structure rapidly.to prevent HIV one should take precautions, like avoid unsafe sex,sex with unknown multiple partner, intravenous drug abusing should be avoided etc.there is no curative treatment available for AIDS.we have medicine like antiretroviral drugs that can slow the disease but it can not cure it.
Antiobiotic for viral infection are regarded as over prescription.there is no use of antiobiotic in treating viral infection.there are some cases where antiobiotic should be given to prevent overwhelming bacterial infection, but mostly need not any antiobiotic.they are misused.and this is one of the reason for development of antiobiotic resistance
