Question
3. You are interested in the improvement of your track and field squad (discus) when throwing sporting implements, and their knowledge of projectile motion equations. You decide to test all your athletes, then teach them the basic biomechanics of flight in the air, then test them again. The average flight distances in feet are below:

What t-test is used?
How many df are there?
What are the means?
What are the sds?
What is the alpha level?
One or two-tailed test?
What is the t value?
What is the p value?
What is the interpretation of the test?
This is all one question on my hw :( dont understand

Explanation / Answer
This is a repeated measures design , the appropriate test used here is paired t test.
The degrees of freedom = n-1 = 8-1 = 7
Mean before lecturer= 199;
Mean after lecturer = 211.75
SD before lecturer= 20.30;
SD after lecturer = 20.58;
Alpha level = 0.05
This is a one tailed test because here interested to know whether there is any improvement after the lecture.
The t- value = mean of d/SE = 2.67
P-value is = 0.016
Since P-value is less than 0.05 we reject the hypothesis that there is no difference in means before and after lecturer.
so conclude that there is an improvement after the lecturer.
