Most important goal in chapter two is to help students learn how to organize data, analyze charts, and graphs. While the topic of discussion in chapter three, sections two and three is about measures of central tendency and variation. The goal of “Week four discussion Board” is to enable students to discover that statistics can be used as an important tool in daily life. One of the application of statistics is in investment through “stock market”. Regardless of what you choose to do in your life and what is your profession, at some point, you might be interested in personal financial investment. So, reading bars and graphs and have a good sense of understanding data is a powerful key to success for this purpose.

Let's assume that you are an investor and would like to do some research on Stock Market, in order to invest in three different companies' shares. To start this project, you may use http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/ website or any other of your choice. Use the available resources such as: “Quote”, “charts”, and “forecast” to choose the best three companies that you would like to buy stocks from them. Here, specifically pay attention to possible available data like: Median, minimum value, Maximum value, estimated standard deviation, and possible trends. Finally, convince your readers why those three stocks are the best choice for investments.

You are going to be graded based on:

Here you can claim for the best by using the specified statistical tools used.Because eventhough we can measure central tendency by mean ,mode,it is said to be that median is the best method .because,

Advantages of Median:

(1) It is very simple to understand and easy to calculate. In some cases it is obtained simply by inspection.

(2) Median lies at the middle part of the series and hence it is not affected by the extreme values.

(3) It is a special average used in qualitative phenomena like intelligence or beauty which are not quantified but ranks are given. Thus we can locate the person whose intelligence or beauty is the average.

(4) In grouped frequency distribution it can be graphically located by drawing ogives.

(5) It is specially useful in open-ended distributions since the position rather than the value of item that matters in median.

Here since the median is used in the given problem so you claim that your prediction/result will be the best.

since maximum and minimum value is used the extreme margin is well known.
