Question
The word problem says: The full time staff receive $19.50 perhour and the part time staff receive $11.65..For a project we areallowed a staffing budget of $150 per hour.. How much of each canwe hire if the projected staff is 21 people? PT staff make $11.65/hr so I let the PT staff be x FT staff make$19.50/hr (x-21) $11.65(x)-$19.50(x-21)=150/hr $11.65x-$19.50x+409.5=150/hr I combine like terms at this point. $-7.85x=$150-$409.5 $-7.85x=-$259.5 x=-$259.5/7.85 x=-33??? I don't know where I went wrong. I've tried most possibilitiesand think that this question might not be doable? This questionwasn't a text book question. I'm currious if there is ananswer? $11.65(x)-$19.50(21-x)=150/hr 11.65x-409.5+19.50x=150 31.15x=559.5 x=17.96
