Explanation / Answer

We know that 1 gallon = 8 pints and 1 cup = 0.25 quart. Now, 1.75 gallons = 8*1.75 = 14 pints. Thus, if a recipe that makes 1 and 3/4 gallons of sauce converted to a 1 pint recipe of sauce is needed, then the quantity of each ingredient required for 1 and 3/4 gallon of sauce has to be divided by 14 to prepare 1 pint of sauce. Further, it may be observed that when the quantity of sauce is doubled from1 and 3/4 gallons to 3 and ½ gallons, the quantity of each ingredient gets doubled. Thus, all the ratios will remain the same. Logically, the end result, as far as taste is concerned, should remain the same. This inference can be drawn from the recipe being same for both 1 and 3/4 gallons and 3 and ½ gallons of sauce. Only the quantity of each ingredient gets doubled.
