Explanation / Answer

a. An example of infinite set S is the set of all integers Z

Z = {......, -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3, ........}

A is the set of all positive integers N.

N = {1,2,3,4......}

N Z => A S.

The complement of A is A' = Z - N.

This is the set of non-positive integers

A' = {......,-3,-2,-1,0}

b. S = {1,2,3,4,5}

A = {1,2,4}

The complement of A in S is

A' = {3,5}

c. Since S has five elements, |S| = 5.

Since A has three elements, |A| = 3.

|A'| = 5 - 3 = 2.
