HELP!! I need verification that I am approaching this problem correctly. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use the arithmetic, geometric, or harmonic mean for this spread of data. PLEASE only answer if you are SURE! thanks so much for your help! Here is the question:

A species of tree has spread over the course of 10 years. Here is a list of the number of days that pass between each foot of spread (265, 267, 284, 300, 305, 316, 250, 280, 300, 344) What is the mean rate of spread in feet per day? Please, I have already asked this question and people keep answering incorrectly. IT IS NOT SAYING THAT THE SPREAD is 265 feet, 267 feet, etc. it is sayig that 265 DAYS, 267 DAYS ETC HAVE PASSED BETWEEN EACH FOOT OF SPREAD! again please only answer if you know. thank you.

I know how to do the mean, but I need to know which type of mean (of the 3 listed above) is most appropriate for this data. PLEASE explain WHY as well as the answer. Just the answer won't help me. THANK YOU!!

The data says in 265 days the tree spread a feet. For another feet it took 267 days and so on

So given is no of days required to spread each feet. If you calculate the mean of the data you will get mean rate of spread in days/ feet. But we are interested in mean rate of spread in feet/day.

So 1/Harmonic mean is appropriate here. =
