Question

1.       Go to the CalStateLA Institutional Research website and download the Grade Distribution: Fall 2016 file.

2.       Create a pivot table which shows average GPA by Department within College.

3.       Search the web for the current listing of active businesses within the City of Los Angeles. Download the file and use SPSS to split the file based on council district.

4.       Obtain the frequency count by council district of the different types of businesses based on NAICS code.

5.       Use MS Access to locally store and query the data for export to a Word merge.   Create a Word document template that notifies each city council person of the number and types of business in their district. (NOTE: To do this, you will need to find out the names and addresses of the various city council members.)

6.       Save the first 5000 records from the city business file in a CSV format and upload that data to www.frhea.com/4870EXAM. The name of the file should be your campus userId. (e.g., my campus userId is pthomas so my file name would be pthomas.csv). The userID and password for the frhea.com website are: frheaco and p@ssw0rd%   You can either use the cpanel which is located on port 2087 or ftp to upload the file.

7.       Use R to remotely access the data you uploaded in step65, and generate categories (based on NAICS) and summary statistics on the data.

8.       Do the Estimating Variances and Covariances example in Part II of the IBM SPSS Amos Users Guide.
