Remember probability can only be a value between 0 and 1 and for an entire set of probabilities they must equal 1.

As already mentioned in the question, as an apparent hint, no probability can be negative or greater than 1 and sum of all probabilities must be exactly equal to 1.

By this rule,

A is ruled out since total of all probabilities is only 0.8, not 1.

B is also ruled out since total of all probabilities at 1.1 exceeds 1.

C satisfies all conditions and hence it is a possible answer.

D has last probability negative and hence does not qualify.

E also satisfies all conditions and hence it is also a possible answer.

Now, between C and E, C is right choice because since the discount factor is a secret, there is an element of uncertainty, but E does not have any uncertainty. It is always 10% in E.
