I need the solution to be done using excel sheet please And thanks in advance Question #1 LO 5 Marks 1) Identify the population and the sample. A. A survey of 1782 American households found that 90% of the households own acomputer. B. When 1886 American households were surveyed, it was found that 85% of them owned two C. A survey of 2625 elementary school children found that 20%of the children could be classified as obese. 2) Determine whether the numerical value is a parameter or a statistic. Explain your reasoning. A. Arecent survey by the alumni of amajor university indicated that the average salary of7500 of its 200,000 graduates was S95.000. B. The average salary of all assembly-ine employees at a certain car manufacturer is S42,000. C. A survey of 1208 students was taken from a university with 20,000 students. Answer: 3) Explain the differences between cluster sampling and stratified sampling Answer: 4) Explain the difference between a sample and a population.

Explanation / Answer

1.

A.

Populaiton: All American households

Sample: 1782 samples of American households that were selected for survey

B.

Populaiton: All American households

Sample: 1886 samples of American households that were selected for survey

C.

Populaiton: All elementary school children

Sample: 2625 elementary school children those who were selected for survey

2. Parameter or Statistic:

A. Statistic. Becuase, they have given that the average salary of 7500 of its 200,000 graduates was $95,000. Which means that the average was calculated from "sample of 7500".

B. Parameter. Becuase, it is given that the average was calculated from "all employees".

C. Statistic. Becuase, the data was taken from the "sample" of 1208 from the population of 20,000 students.

3. Cluster sampling and Stratified Sampling:

Cluster sampling:

The whole population is divided into homogenous clusters. And using simple random sampling the number of needed clusters will be selected. And all the elements within the cluster will be considered for the study sample.

Stratified Sampling:

In stratified sampling, the whole population will be stratified into homogenous groups and the elements within strata are randomly selected from each strata.

4. Sample and Population:

Sample:

Sample is a subset or a portion of the population. Any number of elements which are selected from the population is called as sample. A finite subset of statistical individuals defined in a population is called a sample.

Population:

In other words, the population is a complete set of all possible observations of the type which is to be investigated. Total number of students studying in a college, total number of books in a library, total number of households in a county some examples of population.
