Californai area codes, in rough order, from north to south

Another California survey does not call numbers in all area codes but starts with an SRS of 10 area codes. Choose such an SRS. Use the random digits table and start at line 122. (Label the area codes from left to right from 01 to 25.)

I already have the answer for this as it was previously asked, however I have no clue how they got the answer which is what I was looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

Explanation / Answer

The component in question is selection of area code using SRS and random number table.

Step1. Label the area codes from 01-25, as the area codes are of two digits. Assume, no area code can be of value 00.

Step2. Look into the random number table (Table B) at line number 122, and start reading from left taking two digits at a time. Continue until 10 area codes are found.

13, 15, 5, 9, 8, 7, 10, 25, 23, 18

Step3. Now, match the area codes given in table per the SRS.
