A factorial ANOVA is used when in the studied experiment, more than one factors are considered together. In case we use multiple 1-way ANOVAs, then interaction or independence of these factors won't be catured under the study. However, in the factorial ANOVA, that can be covered.
For example, life of a new car depends on the quality of the originally manufactured parts as well as frequency of regular maintenance of the car. In such a case, a 1-way ANOVA will only help us in estimating life of the car based on quality of parts or based on frequency of maintenance. However, a factorial ANOVA will capture the interaction of both of these factors, Quality of Parts & Maintentance Frequency, in the same model for life of the car.
