What is the probability that she selects the route of four specific capitals? Is it practical to list all of the different possible routes in order to select the one that is best? P(she selects the route of four specific capitals). (Type an integer or a simplified fraction)Explanation / Answer
Solution :
here we have to select 4 states from 45 states.
For selection of 1st stae we have 45 states available , for selection of 2nd state we have 44 states available, for 3rd 43 states available & for selection of 4th state we have 42 states avalable.
Hence
we need to use permutation or multiplication rule to find out total possible routes.
Total possible route = 45*44*43*42 = 3575880
and we want to find probability of selecting specific route
specific rould should be only one
Hence
P ( She selects the route of four specific capitals ) = 1/3575880
& 3575880 is too many possibilities to list. So it is not practical to list all of the different possible routes in order to select the one that is best.
