Question

Suppose a computerized multiple repression output indicates an adjusted multiple coefficient of determination r^_a = 0.8856, a standard error of estimate s = 7.6 and the ANOVA test statistic F = 12.37 with associated p-value = 0.049. Which of the following are true? Circle all which are correct. The regression model is statistically significant at a = 0.05 b. The independent variables are all statistically significant at a = 0.05 c. The estimated multiple linear regression equation is a strong fit d. The typical error In estimation using y is 0.8856 e. The regression mode, is statistically, significant a. a = 0.01 f. The residuals satisfy the plusminus 2 Rule since r^2 = 0.8856

Explanation / Answer

a) and c)

a) p-value is almost close to 0.05(i.e0.049). So strictly speaking it is less than 0.05 and hence the regression model is significant given the p-value

b) we don't know the p-values of the independent variables, so we cannot comment on this

c) R square is 88% which means 88% of any variation in y can be explained by the sef of independent variables X. Hence it is fair to say the regression model is a good fit

d) the typical error estimate is 7.6 and not 88%

e) The regression model is not statistically significant at 0.01 as p-value 0.049 > 0.01

f) Not sure of this.
