Question
A psychologist is studying the effects of various drugs on the speed of mental arithmetic. In an exploratory study 32 subjects are divided equally into four drug conditions, and each subject solves as many problems as he or she can in 10 minutes. The mean number of problems solved follows for each drug group, along with the standard deviations. a. Calculate the F ratio and find the p-value. b. Make the ANOVA table. c. Calculate Fisher's LSD (alpha = 0.05) and Tukey's HSD. Find pairs that exhibit significant differences between the means. d. Give your conclusions based on this analysis.Explanation / Answer
In an explanatory study 32 subjects are divided equally into 4 drug condition. so each grug get 8 subjects each.
a) F ratio is 2.638 and p-value is 0.069
b)
c) Since p-value is 0.069 at 5% level of significant is greater than 0.05 , so here we failed to reject the null hypothesis hence there is no significant difference between thses four group.
Hence there is on meaning to calculate pair wise difference between drugs.
