Here,

Maximum = 42

Minimum = 4

Hence,

Range = 42 - 4 = 38

If they had a uniform probability distribution then the number on which we will bet is 4. The reason is that 4 occurs in the data set twice and hence, it will contain the highest probability as compared to others to get 4.
