1) A researcher is interested in comparing the breaking strength of different laminated beams made from 3 different types of glue and 3 varieties of wood. Work out an experiment that would help the researcher to make an appropriate comparison. In your answer you must include the following:
- Describe variables in your model
- Describe how to get the data for the variables you use in your model.
- Select an experiment design and describe how to interpret the experiment result.
- Describe the steps you are going to use to analyze the data.

dependent variabel : breaking strength
Independent variables/Factors : Glue type , Wood Type
- Describe how to get the data for the variables you use in your model.
Get the breaking strength for each combination of glue type and wood type , repaeat some measure so that the results can be analysed for measuring variations
- Select an experiment design and describe how to interpret the experiment result.
This would be a case of 2 way anova analysis , where we shall study the main effect of wood and glue type seperately on the breaking strength . The study would also include the interaction effect between the 2 factors that might have a significant effect on the breaking strength. Basically , a full blown 2 way anova analysis
- Describe the steps you are going to use to analyze the data.
