I wish to conduct an experiment to determine the effectiveness of a new language arts program for tenth grade students in my local school district (there are two high schools with a total of approximately 600 10th grade students) who need foreign language credits to qualify for admission into major universities. What parameters would I need to establish on the test (# of samples, who would conduct the test, test conditions, ethical questions, etc.)? Be as specific as you can (you don’t need to be educational experts to answer this). What would be an appropriate statistical test for this data and research question? Why would this be more appropriate than some other statistical test?

We are given that there are 2 high schools in the district and we are interested in measuring the effectiveness of the arts program to qualify for admissions in the major universities

We can go for an independent sample 2 test. The process of the test would be as follows

Check the p value of the test , if the p value is less than 0.05 ,then reject the null hypothesis in favor of alternate hypothesis else do not reject the null hypothesis

H0 : There is no difference in the credits of the students for the 2 high schools of the district

H1 : There is a significant difference in the credits of the students for the 2 high schools of the district
