(b) Classify as to the type of data and determine the level of measurement for the particular data item: the total number of matches the Sierra College Women's Volleyball team will win this season.

Explanation / Answer

Answer to the part a)

In order to be able to compare the scores on the two games , we need to convert the scores into Z scores and then the game which has the higher value of Z is considered to have performed better

.

Formula of Z

Z = (x - M ) / s

.

For assists per set

We got :

x = 15

M = 10.76

s = 3.88

.

On plugging these values we get

z = (15 -10.76) / 3.88

z = 1.0928

.

For blocks , we got:

x = 3

M = 1.03

s = 0.42

.

On plugging the values we get:

z = (3 -1.03) / 0.42

z = 4.6905

.

Thus we find that the Z score for blocks 4.6905 > Z score for assists 1.0928

Thus the performance in blocks per set is better than the performance in assists per set

.
