The first hospital is a fore-profit organization and highly recognized for both cardiac care and recently for trauma care. The hospital is a member of one of the largest health care corporations in the country. The second hospital is a fore-profit hospital which is a member of a prominent health care system in South Carolina. The two that are competitors to Memorial by virtue of their affiliations have greater financial resources and are able to have greater “purchasing” power for material and salaries for human resources. The organization has implemented a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program to meet the needs of the community however according to various sources the program could be improved by statistical analysis of patient needs.
